We have had a lovely few days in Year 2M. In Maths this week we have been learning about fractions, and today the children had a go at working out equivalent fractions (eg; 1/2 is the same as 2/4). They used cubes and counters to check their answers.

In English this week we have planned and written some alternative endings to George's Marvellous Medicine, which has entertained us all greatly! In RE we finished our topic on 'Books' with some time for reflection in our beautiful prayer garden.

See you next week!

We Are Photographers!

We have had a busy few days in Year 2M! We have been developing our descriptive writing in English lessons, and we have been reading George's Marvellous Medicine, to the children's delight! In Maths we have been solving problems involving division. In Art this week the children had a go at sketching Roald Dahl characters and used watercolours to paint them, in the style of Quentin Blake. In our Computing lesson we took the i-Pads around the school to take some photographs of the school environment, part of our topic 'We Are Photographers!' I was so impressed with the photos the children took - here are a few of my photos of them taking photos (how confusing!)
Have a great evening,

Welcome Back!

Happy New Year to all of you, and welcome to the Spring term! After hearing about everyone's exciting holiday we kicked off the new term with a busy couple of days! In English we are reading the Roald Dahl story 'The Twits', and the children have so far enjoyed plotting their own dastardly tricks to play on Mr and Mrs Twit! You can learn more about Roald Dahl here.
In Maths we have been recalling number facts, rounding numbers to the nearest ten, and using the symbols < and > to talk about the relationships between numbers.
We have started our new RE topic 'Books'. We had an interesting discussion about what the world would be like without books, and today the children have started to think about what we know about the Bible. Amid all this activity we even found time to do some Twits themed painting today!
Next week we will be continuing to read 'The Twits' and the children will be planning and writing their own chapters for the story.
A gentle reminder to all that PE days are Tuesday and Friday, and that children really should have winter PE kits in school.
See you next week!
