This week in school has been a busy one, culminating in our wonderful Nativity performance on Friday. The children shone on the stage and I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved! They have earned a well-deserved rest this weekend.

Thank you for all the lovely comments we have received and thank you to everyone that came to support us on Friday. Here are some photos from our dress rehearsal along with some group shots taken on Friday...

Welcome back!

Hopefully you have had a restful half term break and are ready for a busy run up to Christmas!
The children have brought home their scripts to learn for this years nativity performance. Please help your child to learn their lines, encouraging them to use lots of expression. Please also ensure that your child brings their script in to school every day in order for us to practise.

Homework this week consists of learning their lines as well as having a look at Times Tables Rock Stars. Your child will be given a copy of their username and password tomorrow. I have managed to set the times tables that they are required to learn so hopefully they shouldn't be given questions for the harder times tables. Please let me know on Monday if there are any issues with this.

I will send home learning books next week with this half term's homework web. Please remember to date each week to show the piece of homework that your child has completed. I have seen some wonderful pieces of homework over the past few weeks and have been very impressed with the amount of effort that has gone in to them.

As the weather turns colder this half term, your child will require warm clothing such as jogging bottoms and a jumper to wear for outdoor PE lessons. Please make sure these are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Next week, I will be sending out a letter with information about any costume items your child might need for the nativity. I will also be asking for any volunteers to support us in 'refreshing' some of our nativity costumes that we have in school. Some of them (particularly the angel costumes) are beginning to look a little worn. If anyone is willing to lend a hand with sewing or providing some bits of material to make into costumes, then it would be very much appreciated.

Have a lovely weekend!

Half term homework

We have had an incredibly busy half term and the children have really impressed me! Thank you to all the parents that came to parents evening this week. When we return to school, we will begin learning our Nativity. The children have been told today which part they will be playing and lines will be sent home after the holiday.

For homework, I would like the class to do some research based around our history topic that we will be learning about when we come back to school. We will be studying ways of communicating and comparing how we communicate today with how we communicated in the past, particularly during WW1.

I would like the children to find out about three different ways of communicating in modern times and then three ways from the past. They could choose to either present their findings as a poster or information booklet or even a power point presentation. Please also make sure your child does lots of reading over the holiday.

Have a lovely week!

Last week, Year 2 headed off for an adventure in the woods at Ashridge estate. We had a fantastic day searching for bugs on the forest floor, building dens and creating Andy Goldsworthy inspired land art. Thank you again to the parents who came and supported us on the trip. The children learned a lot about habitats and have enjoyed writing about our trip in school.

Here are a few photos form the day...
